### 12 days around the Dachstein
The long route is the longest and most extensive tour on the Dachstein circular hiking trail. This 12-day hike takes you through Styria, Salzburg and Upper Austria, linking the key natural and cultural highlights around the Dachstein massif.
- **Duration:** 12 days, 11 nights
- **Route:** Circular walk through Styria, Salzburg and Upper Austria
- **Target group:** Ideal for experienced walkers and long-distance hikers in good physical condition
- **Natural highlights:** the Dachstein South Face, the Dachstein Plateau, the Stoderzinken, the Notgasse and the Koppental

Day 1: Independent travel to Gosau am Dachstein - Overnight stay in Gosau
- Pick up your travel documents at the hotel
Day 2: Cable car ride to the Zwieselalm, hike to the Hofpürglhütte - Overnight stay at the Hofpürglhütte
- **Approx. 10 km, 4–5 hours, elevation gain/loss: 850 / 860 m**
- Luggage transport from Gosau to Ramsau, where you will spend the night the following day
- You must bring your own luggage and sleeping bag for the overnight stay at the Hofpürglhütte!
Day 3: High-altitude hike from the Hofpürglhütte to the Dachstein Südwandhütte - Descent to the Türlwand and overnight stay at a 3-star hotel in Ramsau am Dachstein
- **Approx. 12.5 km, 6 hours, elevation gain/loss: 895 / 882 m**
Day 4: A relaxing day in Ramsau am Dachstein Enjoy a well-deserved day of relaxation in Ramsau. Take advantage of the many discounts and benefits offered by the Schladming-Dachstein Card! Your hotelier will be happy to provide you with more information.
- 2nd night at a \*\*\*hotel in Ramsau am Dachstein
Day 5: Drive up to the Dachstein Glacier – High-altitude hike to the Guttenberghaus - **Please note:** Due to limited capacity, it is absolutely necessary **to reserve your ride on the Dachstein Glacier Cable Car** at [www.derdachstein.at](http://www.derdachstein.at/) approximately one week in advance. Each guest is responsible for making their own reservation.
- Overnight stay at the Guttenberghaus (In case of bad weather, the Guttenberghaus can be reached via a route in the valley.)
- **Approx. 9.5 km, 6 hours, elevation gain/loss: 264 / 861 m**
- Luggage transport from Ramsau to Gröbming, where you will spend the night the following day.
- You must bring your own luggage and sleeping bag for the night at the Guttenberghaus!
Day 6: High-altitude hike from the Guttenberghaus across the “Am Stein” plateau and the Grafenbergalm to the Stoderzinken - Overnight stay at the Steinerhaus mountain inn
- **Approx. 13 km, 6 hours, elevation gain/loss: 552 / 860 m**
Day 7: Hike from Stoderzinken to Steinitzenalm Hike from Stoderzinken via the Notgasse (a rocky gorge featuring rock carvings up to 2,000 years old) to the Viehbergalm and on via the Hochmühleck to the Steinitzenalm.
- Descent to Bad Mitterndorf and overnight stay in Bad Mitterndorf
- **Approx. 22 km, 7 hours, elevation gain/loss: 627 / 1,590 m**
- Luggage transport from Gröbming to Bad Mitterndorf
Day 8: Train ride and hike from Bad Mitterndorf to Hallstatt Train ride from Bad Mitterndorf/Pichl Kainisch to Bad Aussee. From Bad Aussee, hike through the Koppental valley along the Traun River to Obertraun and on to the Hallstatt train station. A visit to the Koppenbrüller Cave is recommended along the way. Then take the ferry across the lake to Hallstatt.

- **Approx. 15 km, 4–5 hours, elevation gain/loss: 166 / 286 m**
- Luggage transport from Bad Mitterndorf to Hallstatt
Day 9: Dachstein Adventure World – Guided tours Dachstein Adventure World – Guided tours of the Mammoth and Giant Ice Caves, plus unlimited rides on all three sections of the Krippenstein Cable Car!
- Overnight stay in Hallstatt
Day 10: From Hallstatt to the Goiserer Hut Take the ferry from Hallstatt Market to Hallstatt Train Station. Hike along the East Shore Trail on the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt to Au and on to Bad Goisern. Hike up to the Goisererhütte via the Trockentannalm.
- Overnight stay at the Goisererhütte
- **approx. 17 km, 7 hours, elevation gain/loss: 1,108 / 52 m**,
- You must bring your own luggage and a hut sleeping bag for the overnight stay at the Goisererhütte!
Day 11: From the Goisererhütte via the Iglmoosalm to Gosau - Overnight stay in Gosau
- **Approx. 7 km, 2–3 hours, elevation gain/loss: 46 / 873 m**
- Luggage transport from Hallstatt to Gosau
Day 12: Departure Individual departure date or additional nights can be booked.

A lodging tax is payable on site at the accommodations (approx. €1 to €4 per person per night). Children under 15 are usually exempt.
**Overnight stay in a mountain hut – what should you keep in mind?**
- \*Mountain hut sleeping bag: Blankets are available in the huts; only a lightweight cotton or silk sleeping bag is required.
- Overnight stay in a shared room or dormitory at the hut.
- Most huts do not accept card payments. Bring enough cash for meals, etc., on site.
- Due to their location, not all huts can offer running water, hot water, or showers. In some cases, the toilets do not have a flush.
- Dogs allowed upon request; not permitted in the dormitory. Overnight stay with owner in the winter room; dog kennels available in some cases. Additional fees apply on-site. In Austria, dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle at all times!
- We recommend purchasing travel cancellation insurance.
- Luggage cannot be transported to the following huts: Hofpürglhütte, Guttenberghaus, and Goisererhütte. Luggage is transported from the previous accommodation to the next. For hut accommodations during the hike, you must carry your own luggage and sleeping bag.

For environmental reasons, we recommend traveling to and from the tour by public transportation (train/bus).
Please note that the tours are weather-dependent, but there are always alternative hiking options available.
