Requirements and General Information

During the tour around the Dachstein, you’ll be spending most of your time in high-altitude terrain. Appropriate trail running gear and good stamina are therefore essential.  Essential gear includes: trail running shoes, technical clothing (including long pants or shorts with (compression) knee-high socks), a second dry long-sleeve shirt, a beanie or cap, gloves, a running backpack, a survival blanket, food and water (for all days), a trash bag, rain and sun protection, a first-aid kit, a headlamp, a cell phone, a power bank, and trekking poles. Even in the height of summer, temperatures can drop suddenly. You should therefore ensure that you carry enough warm clothing, including gloves and a beanie. Please also remember to bring a second long-sleeve shirt in case you have to wait for your luggage at the accommodation.

Your route will be recorded in every mountain hut logbook in the Dachstein Mountains. The trails are well-marked, but remaining snow may obscure the markings. Therefore, it is essential that you bring along the route map. An experienced guide is available upon request!

Please note that the tour is weather-dependent! Alternative trails, as well as the use of cable cars, trains, or buses (payable on site), are always available.
