Caution: The children's via ferrata features a flying fox. This should only be used under expert supervision – a brakeman is required, otherwise you will crash into the tree below with great force.

Via ferrata equipment is absolutely necessary!

Tour description

Heidi has been made with the adventurous climber in mind. It is the most difficult out the 4 Children's Via Ferratas and some of its C/D passages will be waiting for you.

The highlight towards the end of your ascent is the rope bridge which will lead you to the Via Ferrata Kala. From there you will have impressive views of the Sattelberg Plateau.

Map, elevation profile & further information

The short trail to the start leads from the "Alte Mühle" (Old Mill) to the left. After a few minutes, you'll see the turnoff to the start of the Heidi via ferrata.

Follow the nature and environmental trail, past the Pension Concordia, back down to the Ramsaubach stream, and then along the Hofrat-Gruber-Weg (Hoferrat Gruber Trail) back to the parking lot at the old mill.

Arriving from the west:

From the west you can take the Munich-Salzburg motorway, continuing on the Tauern motorway (A 10) until the Ennstal junction. From here take the Ennstal A-road (the B 320) for around 30 km into the Schladming-Dachstein region, then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Continue to the Ramsau plateau and about 1 km after Ramsau Kulm turn right to Rössing and continue to the Alte Mühle parking lot.

Arriving from the north and east:

From the south-east take the Pyhrnautobahn motorway (A 9) to the Liezen junction and then the Ennstal A-road (B 320) into the Schladming-Dachstein region. Then take the Ramsau am Dachstein turn-off. Continue to the Ramsau plateau and about 1 km after Ramsau Kulm turn right to Rössing and continue to the Alte Mühle parking lot.

The starting point can be reached by hiking route #962 - bus stop "Alte Mühle".
